The AOK All Stars win the Ultimate Playing Experience at Lord’s Cricket Ground

This month, we entered a team into the Ultimate Playing Experience at Lord’s Cricket Ground and only went to win it!

Each year, Lord’s invite teams to enter a six-a-side cricket tournament for one day only. A combination of sport, luxury, exclusive access, expert coaching and unparalleled hospitality, make it a truly unforgettable day out. Our CEO, Alex Hewitt, gathered his most talented cricket friends and family to form the AOK All Stars. Read on to find out how they got on:

A Successful Morning

The day started with breakfast in the famous Long Room, followed by a player briefing and a photo of each team. As part of the experience, each team is supported by a cricket legend, we got former England bowler Sajid Mahmood in the draw, who supported our team throughout the day. After getting changed into their personalised playing shirts in the away dressing rooms, the AOK All Stars headed out for their first match of the day.

A Cultural Lunch

After winning both matches in the morning, our team headed up to the Centurions roof terrace for a delicious buffet lunch with views of the grounds. Than at 2.30pm guests were invited to join a tour of the grounds which started in the Pavilion, explaining the history of the grounds and the building.

In the Lord’s museum, we were shown the original ashes alongside the largest collection of sports memorabilia in the world. To finish the tour, we headed up into the media centre, learning about the architecture and taking in the press view of the grounds.

An Even More Successful Afternoon

After winning the third match, we entered the semi-finals! Propped up by Afternoon tea, the team went out to win that too! Then Alex’s long years of playing cricket caught up with him and one of the Lord’s physios on standby had to come in to treat him on the pitch. In the final, the AOK All Stars obliterated the opposition and went to win the tournament!

An Evening of Celebrations

To conclude the day, all teams smartened up to enjoy a drinks reception and dinner in the Long Room together, which included a Q&A with the cricket legends who joined them. They spent the evening celebrating their wins and talking about the day that they will remember forever.
