The Oktoberfest is the world’s largest Volksfest. Held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, it is a 16- to 18-day folk festival running from mid- or late September to the first Sunday in October, with more than six million people from around the world attending the event every year.
The first Oktoberfest took place on October 12th in 1810, with the wedding of the Bavarian crown prince Ludwig to princess Therese from Saxony-Hildburghausen, and people from all over the world have been coming ever since.
There are around fifteen beer tents varying in size, some are small such as the Hippodrome tent, with others bigger such as the mid range Schuetzen Festholle tent which holds around four thousand guests and the larger Schottenhamel tent which holds up to ten thousand guests.
