Ireland FAM Trip with The Doyle Collection

6 December 2018

As the newest member of the wefindvenues team, I have spent a lot of time out of the office, meeting with contacts at amazing venues around London. When our friends at The Doyle Collection invited me over to Ireland for a FAM trip, it was time to venture out to see what fantastic venues and activities they have to offer.

After a short flight from Heathrow, the first stop of the weekend was Corks’ famous English market tour. We were welcomed with an amazing array of food samples by the ever so friendly stall holders. A personal favourite of mine has to be the fresh salmon fit for The Queen… (Literally). It’s known that The Queen on occasions has requested fresh fish, delivered from K O’Connell’s fishmongers within the market. To top that off, we had lunch at Nash 19, with all of the food on the menu coming fresh from the stallholders just below the restaurant.

After lunch we took a short trip out of the city centre to the old Jamerson Distillery for a tour and whiskey tasting session. The venue itself has great meeting spaces and an excellent private dining lodge which can all be incorporated into a tour and whiskey experience. Our tour guides were full of knowledge and experience which makes for a great incentive destination for any clients that would like a twist to an unusual offsite.

Later that evening, we were back on our way to the city centre and to our first Doyle Collection venue of the weekend, The River Lee. We finished our first day in Ireland with a tour of the hotel, drinks and dinner in The Grill Room.

Day two started bright and early with breakfast in The Mirror Room before getting back on the minibus to the train station, ready to depart for Dublin. After our three-and-a-half-hour scenic ride, we were picked up and whisked off or Croke Park, the home of the GAA and Irelands Gaelic Games. We arrived at the impressive 82,300 capacity stadium and viewed the meeting spaces before an amazing taster lunch and full stadium tour including the dressing rooms and tunnel area.

We were then off to an ‘Irish themed Christmas surprise’, which by now most of us had worked out to be Ireland’s famous Guinness factory. As an event space it is quite amazing what can be done with the venue, with the most impressive space coming on the top floor, the gravity bar enjoying 360 degrees views over the whole of Dublin.

That evening, we had dinner at The Westbury Hotel, voted the number 1 hotel in Ireland and it certainly did not disappoint. After an action-packed day it was time to retire back to our Croke Park bedrooms before our morning departure back to Heathrow.

A massive thank you to our tour guide Callum at The Doyle Collection for putting on and hosting such an unforgettable FAM trip.
