Luxury Store Takeovers In London: Exclusive Beauty Experiences
21 September 2026
There aren’t many corporate events that begin behind the doors of a luxury beauty boutique. That is, of course, part of the appeal.
A luxury beauty experience can give your group exclusive use of a central London store. Another group could move between treatments, consultations, and lunch inside a department store. For brands, the retail space itself could become the setting for a launch, press preview, or awareness campaign.
AOK Events can source luxury beauty experiences across London, working with individual boutiques, department-store concierge teams, beauty brands, treatment providers, and commercial teams. CHANEL in Covent Garden and Jo Malone London in Fitzrovia are two of the private boutique experiences we particularly love, but they aren’t the only options.
From fragrance discovery and makeup masterclasses to skincare treatments, gifting, and full retail activations, there is much more to explore…
What Are Luxury Store Takeovers?
We use luxury store takeover as an umbrella term for several different types of beauty experience.
At its most exclusive, it means having a boutique to yourselves with after hours access, dedicated specialists, food and drinks, and time to explore the products without the usual flow of shoppers.
It could also mean a multi-brand itinerary arranged through a department-store concierge, a series of appointments inside private treatment rooms, or a retail activation created for a product launch or awareness campaign.
Whichever route you choose, guests have something to discover together. The consultations, treatments, and products create natural conversation starters.
After all, it’s much easier to start talking over fragrance notes or a new lipstick shade than across a formal dinner table while everybody waits for someone else to go first. We think so, anyway.
For organisers, a luxury beauty experience can also bring several parts of the brief together. You have a distinctive London setting, interactive content, food and drinks, expert guidance, and a gift guests have actually chosen for themselves.

Why Private Beauty Experiences Work For Corporate Events
They feel personal without feeling over-planned
One-to-one consultations give every guest some individual attention, while the wider event remains relaxed and sociable. People can move at their own pace, enjoy the food and drinks, and catch up between appointments.
The experience does some of the networking for you
Guests naturally start comparing recommendations, testing products, and discussing favourite scents, shades, and skincare finds. It takes the pressure off the conversation, which makes the format particularly good for client groups, senior leadership teams, or colleagues who don’t often spend time together outside work.
The gift is part of the experience
AA goody bag can be lovely, but choosing something with the help of an expert feels much more memorable. With spend built into the experience, guests leave with a product they genuinely want rather than another branded item destined for the back of a cupboard.
It can become a much bigger occasion
With the stores in central London, the beauty experience can be the main event or one part of a longer itinerary. Add afternoon tea beforehand, dinner afterwards, or a nearby hotel stay and a few hours of pampering can become a full celebration.

The Jo Malone London Private Store Experience
The Jo Malone London experience takes place at the Fitzroy store on Mortimer Street in Fitzrovia, exclusively hired for up to 35 guests for two hours.
With this experience, the evening flows so naturally. It feels more like being pampered rather than taking part in a scheduled corporate activity. Guests can chat over drinks and canapés, then sit down with a Jo Malone expert for a personalised sensory experience.
During the one-to-one, the stylist learns more about the scents each guest is drawn to and introduces fragrance combinations tailored to those preferences. The consultation finishes with a hand massage, which gives the experience its pampering side without turning the evening into a full spa day.
The £3,000 minimum spend is fully redeemable against products, with no VAT applied to the gifting spend. Products can be chosen in advance, or guests can select their favourites during the evening, giving organisers the option of a coordinated company gift or something much more personal.
Catering is arranged externally by AOK Events and built into the package, with unlimited Champagne and soft cocktails, alongside eight canapés per person. A dedicated AOK event manager is also there throughout to make sure everything runs smoothly.

The CHANEL Private Boutique Experience
The CHANEL experience offers exclusive use of the Covent Garden Fragrance and Beauty boutique for up to 35 guests over three hours. Its biggest difference from the Jo Malone experience is choice. Here, each guest selects a fragrance, makeup, or skincare experience with one of CHANEL’s beauty specialists.
That makes it a better option for a mixed group with different interests. One guest might want help finding a new fragrance, while another can explore skincare or ask for advice on lipstick and bronzer shades. The specialist shapes the consultation around what they already use, what works for them, and what they would like to discover next.
Each guest receives a £60 voucher, with no VAT applied, to spend in the boutique. The package we offer also includes two glasses of Champagne, one cocktail, soft drinks, three savoury canapés and one sweet canapé per person, and a dedicated AOK event manager.
Because the experience covers more of the beauty routine, it gives guests room to make the evening their own. It still works as a group event, but nobody has to be interested in exactly the same thing.
If the group would enjoy going deeper into fragrance with an exclusive pamper, Jo Malone is the natural fit. If broader choice matters, CHANEL gives guests three different routes through the experience. AOK Events can talk through the group, reason for the event, and wider plans for the day before recommending the best option.
Private Beauty Experiences At Selfridges & Liberty
Exclusive boutique hire is only one route. For groups that would benefit from more choice, London’s larger department stores can open up a much wider beauty menu, with options spanning makeup, skincare, fragrance, hair, nails, grooming, wellness, dining, and gifting.
Selfridges Beauty & Concierge Experiences
At Selfridges London, the Beauty Concierge can guide guests across an extensive mix of indulgent beauty services and brands, while 40 Duke offers access to treatments and masterclasses with visiting specialists. The wider Selfridges Concierge can also connect beauty with personal shopping, gifting, restaurants, and other experiences across the store.
Depending on the brief, one group might combine makeup appointments and manicures with lunch, while another could focus on fragrance, skincare, gifting, or pre-event preparation.
These experiences take place within an operating department store and aren’t automatically exclusive-use takeovers. At AOK Events, we can work with the concierge and commercial teams to explore the right format for the group, subject to guest numbers, timings, services, and store approval.
Liberty Fragrance & Beauty Experiences
Liberty’s Fragrance Lounge offers dedicated consultations in bespoke suites. Guests can explore signature scents with a Fragrance Concierge, with refreshments, gift wrapping, engraving on qualifying purchases, and a memento included in selected experiences. The programme also features brand-led fragrance sessions, giving groups access to different fragrance houses and scent stories throughout the year.
Beyond fragrance, Liberty has a broad network of beauty counters and treatment rooms offering makeup appointments, facials, skincare consultations, grooming, hair, and nail services.
This is where a department-store experience really comes into its own. Rather than choosing one brand and trying to make the entire guest list fit it, we can start with the people attending and build the beauty itinerary around them.
What Kind Of Events Are Luxury Store Takeovers Good For?
These experiences work especially well when the guest list is small and the aim is to make people feel valued. They can be used for:
- Client entertaining and relationship-building
- Women’s networks and female-led client communities
- Team rewards and milestone celebrations
- Senior leadership team events
- Small-group team bonding
- Christmas parties and end-of-year thank-yous
- Incentive itineraries and London away days
Not every reward needs to be another dinner. Food and drinks can still be a big part of the evening, but the beauty experience gives guests something to do, talk about, and take home afterwards.

Luxury Christmas Parties
Beauty experiences make lovely Christmas events because gifting can be built into the plan. Rather than choosing one present for an entire team or client group, guests can select something with expert help, use an individual voucher, or receive a personalised product at the end. It feels celebratory on the night and gives them something luxurious to take home afterwards.
That doesn’t mean the format should be saved for December. It works just as well for a company anniversary, successful project, promotion, incentive reward, or a simple thank-you to the people who’ve helped make the year a good one.

Beauty Store Takeovers For Brand Launches & Activations
So far, we’ve focused on beauty experiences for clients and teams. Store takeovers can also give beauty, fashion, lifestyle, and consumer brands a gorgeous setting for launches, campaigns, and live activations.
A retail environment gives the product instant context. Guests can see, test, and experience it in a setting that already feels relevant, while the space provides a strong backdrop for photography, social content, demonstrations, and expert-led conversations.
A private press or influencer preview can create a more controlled and personal introduction to the product. A public-facing pop-up or experiential space can help a brand reach existing store customers, build awareness, and bring an online campaign into the real world.
These projects usually sit with the retailer’s commercial, buying, partnerships, or events teams rather than its everyday appointment service.
AOK Events can help develop the concept, identify the right retail setting, approach the relevant teams, and manage the wider experience. That could include production, set and styling, guest-list management, invitations, catering, entertainment, sampling, gifting, content moments, and the schedule on the day.
There are retailer approvals, trading hours, customer access, branding guidelines, lead times, and commercial terms to consider. Bringing all of those conversations together is exactly where experienced event management earns its place.

How AOK Events Manages Luxury Store Takeovers
The beauty appointment might be what guests remember, but there’s still a complete event happening around it.
AOK Events manages the boutique or retail relationship, timings, suppliers, guest communications, and running order, making sure the experience connects smoothly with anything planned before or afterwards.
Where catering isn’t supplied in-house, we work with our incredible catering partners to create food and drinks that suit the setting, time of day, dietary requirements, and overall feel of the event. It gives us the freedom to make the menu part of the experience rather than something added at the last minute.
We can also extend the occasion with afternoon tea, dinner, entertainment, transport, or an overnight stay nearby. The store takeover could be the surprise in the middle of the itinerary or the entire reason for bringing everybody into London.
