Taking place from 13th – 16th March 2018, the National Hunt Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse is one of those ‘bucket list’ occasions which captures the attention of people around the world. With four days of world-class jump racing, each day at The Festival offers something different...
Day 1 AOK Events’ very own Dan Wheeler is an annual attendee of The Festival and has summed up his thoughts, giving an insight into why he feels Cheltenham is like no other:
“First and foremost, for me, there is quite literally no better moment in sport than hearing that ‘Cheltenham Roar’ on the opening day” (Champion Day). “It’s in the same bracket as Men’s Final at Wimbledon and the final day of The Masters, for me the Cheltenham atmosphere is what makes this event all the more special”.
Day 2 is Ladies’ Day – the day oozes style and class, there are prizes to be won for the most glamorous – including awards for the best-dressed lady, best accessories and, of course, best hat! After all of that, if you fancy watching some horse racing, the brilliant Queen Mother Champion Chase is one of the biggest races of the season, stretching over two miles.
Day 3 is St. Patrick’s Thursday. Fittingly, 265,000 pints of Guinness were sunk by spectators at The Festival in 2015 (I think it’s safe to assume that St Patrick’s Thursday saw the majority of these). If you’re a complete newbie to jump racing, our hospitality packages include guest speakers, a tipster and betting facilities – Grab a Guinness and experience the ‘luck of the Irish’ on Paddy’s Day!
Day 4 – Gold Cup Day. Need we say more? The Cheltenham Gold Cup grabs the attention of the world - an unmissable occasion, perfect for those who enjoy their horse racing or simply appreciate a great day out.
