THE M&I FORUM
I was selected to represent the AOK Venues team as one of the lucky 400 attendees at this year’s M&I Forum in Prague last week.
This huge industry forum brings together agencies and suppliers from across the globe to share knowledge, network and ultimately build relationships in a 4-day event.
The Hilton Prague hosted the 2016 event in their large Congress Centre.
The forum is made up of an intense schedule of back to back meetings in a speed-dating style, with 16 minutes per presentation. It is not all hard work though, as there was a great mix of afternoon activities to choose from followed by a wonderful dinner in an exclusive venue each night.
PRAGUE AS A DESTINATION
With a flight time of just under 2 hours from London Gatwick and Heathrow, Prague is easily accessible for meetings and events.
The speedy 25-minute transfer from the airport meant that we had time to settle into our hotel before departing to explore the picturesque Old Town.
Split in two by the Vltava River, this historic city is known for its Old Town Square, Gothic churches and the medieval Astronomical Clock. The clean, cobbled streets and beautifully painted, baroque buildings were a pleasant surprise for my first visit to this city.
THE HILTON PRAGUE
The Hilton Prague is situated just a ten-minute stroll into the city centre along the river, so was in an ideal location for this event.
It is the second biggest Hilton conference hotel in Europe boasting 791 comfortable guest bedrooms and 38 meeting spaces, including the vast Congress Hall which housed our meetings comfortably.
The cool Rooftop Cloud 9 Sky Bar had amazing views over the city and was kept busy by the guests of the forum throughout the week!
On the first night the M&I team had arranged a very special transfer to the dinner venue in the form of traditional trams. With a glass of champagne in hand and the local accordion playing in the background it was the perfect way to set the mode for the evening's festivities. Wowed by the spectacular Lobkowicz Palace in which we were to dine that night, we set about grabbing lots of food from the buffet and mingling with our new found friends.
The second night was a very modern affair and a complete contrast to the first, as we were taken to the brand new Forum Karlin – a warehouse style venue housing up to 3000 people.
They put on a fantastic light show and had local dancers which inspired us to get up and dance the night away after our delicious dinner.
Of course it would be rude to come to Prague without sampling their local delicacy – Beer! We visited a local Brewery which had been using the same brewing method for the last 500 years. The beer tasted great and very light so they must have nailed the technique over all of those years.
Alongside this there were plenty of other activities to chose from including Go Karting, Dragon Boat Racing, Tram Tours, Bike Tours, Segways…the list goes on. This city really does have it all and I would highly recommend it as a conference and incentive destination!
A huge thank you to the M&I team for arranging such a great event with some fabulous activities and entertainment. And special thanks to all the lovely new suppliers that I met with, I am sure we will be staying in touch and working together soon!
