Three Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Venues
1 June 2019
It’s #NationalRefillDay and on the topic of taking care of our beautiful planet, here are three venues that are doing their bit to make a big difference…
Capacities: Max. 1,200 guests

Part of the 2012 Queen Elizabeth Olympic park, Here East has repurposed the existing landmark structures into a sustainable working community. Bringing together businesses and individuals in the pursuit of innovation, it has been designed with both the economic and environmental prosperity of the surrounding area in mind. From solar panel roofing to reduce their carbon footprint, to collecting and re-using rainwater to be used on premises, it’s no wonder that Here East won Best Refurbished / Recycled Workplace at the British Council for Offices’ annual Regional Awards.
Capacities: Max. 500 guests

Priding themselves on continuously challenging the standards set for environmentally friendly practice within the events industry, 15 Hatfields was named the UK’s Most Sustainable Conference and Event Venue. Incorporating the latest energy saving devices in all its spaces and pursuing a zero waste policy, 15 Hatfields has reduced it’s utility bills by 50 per cent and prevented 1 million plastic water bottles ending up in landfill. Their sustainable journey isn’t confined to the four walls of their venue though, they’ve even distributed over 2 million wild flower seeds as part of a campaign to save the decline of bees in London and we’re buzzing about it!
Capacities: Max. 16,000 guests

Set to open in Aberdeen in the coming months, P&J Live will be Scotland’s biggest entertainment venue. With three on-site hotels and 48,000 sq meters of flexible event space, the world-class facilities will all be sustainably powered by local, renewable energy sources. As part of the design, the venue has it’s own innovative energy centre to use food and garden waste from around Aberdeen to supply heating, cooling and power throughout the event spaces and on-site hotels.
